Birthday Rat

Welcome

This card was made for a friend's grandson who is turning 12...

I started with the background - I had embossed the orange base when trialling a new embossing folder (Altenew Checkered Diamonds 3D folder), and then abandoned it...

I had given these strips of light weight card waste from a friend who was cutting the sheets down for a book making project.

The strips were woven to form a mat for the focal image - a Katzelkraft City Rat, which I stamped in Memento London Fog ink, and coloured with my Polychromo pencils, he was then die cut and the circle edged with more London Fog ink.

The sentiment was computer generated, trimmed and the edges inked with a black marker
The inside of the card was finished with some Washi tape and another image of the rat

I always think male cards are difficult to make and young males in particular. I love this card though and must remember to use myk embossing folders a bit more than I do. I love the image and the word 'awesome' and I am sure the recipient will too.
Blessings, Neet xx

Wow Maxine, what a wonderful fun card. I love the weaving and the little rat. I love how you colored his eyes yellow. Great touch. How clever to use the left overs in this way. Great job.

What a cute birthday card Maxine! I love the orange embossed base, that is a cool embossing folder. But what really stands out is the woven mat that your little rat sits on! The colors just pop with the orange background. Plus I love that all these blue strips were woven, makes for one cool mat! Hugs, Brenda
