Silent Night

Welcome once again - today I am sharing a new release image from McMahon Vintage Digitals called Silent Night

I printed both the image and the sentiment onto vellum gold embossed them, and cut them with a Nestabilitie classic oval.  

The scene was coloured on the back of the vellum with water colour pens, and some blue card was cut to the shape of the sky line and adhered to form the sky.  The image was them mounted over a scalloped oval of Cryogen paper, although the sparkle did not show through the vellum.

The sentiment was also layered over the cryogen card.

The background layer was a dark blue card sprayed with Shimmerz spray.

The ribbon was layered over the blue, and a wee bow folded held with silver flower spit pin.

White Rose Birthday

Warm greetings to you from the Antipodes - I trust you feel welcome here.

The card I am sharing today is one I have enjoyed making - even if what I envisioned and what evolved are two different things.

I started with the background, sponging colours onto shiny white card, then stamping the motif over it.

The main sentiment was embossed using Green Tinsel embossing powder, and the edge of the panel was run over the green ink pad and then lightly sponged.

The greeting panel had the same treatment.

The lace had some gold edged ribbon laid threaded through it, and the wee bows slipped onto the ribbon as it came to the front of the lace.

Another two ribbons were laid diagonally across the top section of the card. 

The main panel was layered over a dark hunter green base card.

The  final addition were these three wee roses with Kindy Glitz added. The stalks were twisted around to form a feature, instead of adding leaves.  Ideal for a small feature like this.

Anniversary Tag

Welcome - thank you for taking the time to visit.

This card is for a couple celebrating a wedding anniversary, and I chose to use the Layers of Color Love Chapter set of stamps.

I am always aware that an anniversary card goes to a couple, so try to not to make it too feminine.

The sentiment is from the Happy Wishes Set, also by Layers of Color, and the tag made using a Labels 14 die, which was embossed and used as a stencil for the sponging.

I could not get a good close up of this stamp, but it is 1 Cor.13 vs 4-6 in a beautiful script.  This and the torn  paper were both sponged with violet ink.

The pearls finished the card.

Computer Geek

Welcome and thank you for calling by.

 I was asked to make a card for a computer buff - who works with, plays with, programmes and studies computers. I was asked to have a computer image on it. This is the result.

The images were freely available on the internet (Google Images).  They were printed, trimmed and mounted on dark brown card.

The design paper is one from a Kaiser 6x6 stack, Le Chateau.  

The sentiment is from Kiwistamping and was gold embossed, cut out and sponged with a Spellbinders ribbon tag trio die

The faux nail heads are my own creation - I punch out the circles, adhere them where I want them and then put a drop of dimensional glue on them.

Lily Boy Blue

I was asked to make a baby boy card the other day,

and this is what transpired, which I was very happy with.

The image is Baby Cana Lily by McMahon Vintage Digitals, coloured with chalks.

The image was printed on cryogenic paper which has a lovely twinkle in it which shows through any colouring medium.  The image was mounted it on a scalloped oval cut from some shiny blue paper from a 'scrap pack'.

This was mounted over a beautiful ribbon that came wrapped around some stamps (thanks to Layers of Color), and a button was added to that.

The corner was cut using the Vintage corners die, and pearls added for interest.  The sentiment is from Stampendous, and the card was finished with some faux stitching with a glitter pen.

Royal Gathering

Thank you for visiting, and I trust you are feeling most welcome.

Despite the title, I have not been taking tea with the queen.

This is a new release from McMahon Vintage Digital  entitled Royal Gathering.

I have discovered over the past months that I love these designs. I have coloured the image with chalks, and then sponged the edges with distress ink before mounting it on the beautiful paper from the Prima Romantique 6x6 stack.  

I chose this paper as it had the wee picture of the two horses in the corner, which so beautifully complemented the main image.  Again the edges were sponged, and then mounted on the Kraft base, which I simply ran the edges over the same ink pad.

The card was finished with a bow made from hand dyed seam binding, (a RAK from Lovely Linda) and some chino Kaiser half pearls.

The sewing project.........

 Welcome - I trust you will enjoy a non-card related craft post this afternoon.

It all started appox. 12 months ago when a young friend announced her engagement, and I offered to make her wedding gown.....

So there was a shopping trip to a larger centre, and I came home with metres of chiffon, satin, lining, satin binding etc. 

A few weeks later I received the lace, which made me drool it was so beautiful.

There was another woman making the bridesmaids dresses, but her machine could not handle the chiffon, so I also ended up with some of the bridesmaids sewing to do too!

Four weeks ago I started with the chiffon 'shrugs'...

Then came the frock, and the fittings, and the alterations to ensure it was a good fit - all between trips back and forth between where she is living now, and here, for the bride, as she had some commitments there which were unavoidable.  Made for fun at times, but we persevered and had a good result.

One of the parts I really loved was working with the lace, and here is a view of it attached to the top of the bodice of the frock.

One of the last parts to be made was the train - of two layers of chiffon. This is a snap of just the end of it, 

after the metres and metres of

 hand stitching the bias to the inside.

And here is the finished product

And the box of scraps at the foot of my sewing machine, which has not done so much sewing for a very long time!!

And some photos of the big day - it was warm enough that the bridesmaids did not need to wear their shrugs..
