Welcome back - It is always great to know you have visited.

This wee fellow is from McMahon Digitals

I painted the image using my newly acquired distress inks. Layered it onto some purple mulberry paper I had frayed the edges of, and then onto the pink base.

I adorned the panel with rhinestones and more stickles, and added a wee ribbon and bow to finish it all off.

Love the sparkle this brings to the card.

Royal Gathering

Thank you for visiting, and I trust you are feeling most welcome.

Despite the title, I have not been taking tea with the queen.

This is a new release from McMahon Vintage Digital  entitled Royal Gathering.

I have discovered over the past months that I love these designs. I have coloured the image with chalks, and then sponged the edges with distress ink before mounting it on the beautiful paper from the Prima Romantique 6x6 stack.  

I chose this paper as it had the wee picture of the two horses in the corner, which so beautifully complemented the main image.  Again the edges were sponged, and then mounted on the Kraft base, which I simply ran the edges over the same ink pad.

The card was finished with a bow made from hand dyed seam binding, (a RAK from Lovely Linda) and some chino Kaiser half pearls.

Girly Grunge

Welcome again - yes I am on a roll with the card making at the moment.

I saw a card the other day that intrigued me, and the technique was called 

Girly Grunge.

 I am not a great fan of grunge - it seems a bit on the 'dark side' for my taste, so this variation sparked my interest.

I crumpled a piece of paper from an old book I had purpose bought from a charity store, and rubbed my Tea Stain distress ink over it, then tore it to the size I wanted and stained the edges and adhered it.

Some time ago I downloaded this image from Kim's blog (here) where she has a page of steampunk type freebies.  I printed it onto vellum and then clear embossed it.

The butterfly was an interesting one to apply as only the outside was glued together and I had to place the centre rhinestones individually.

The ribbon was 'gathered' onto a strip of glue tape, and the Happy
Birthday sentiment by Hero Arts was embossed in silver onto the torn and sponged violet card. The buttons were adhered with glue dots, and all edges distressed and sponged with violet ink.

First Cards for McMahon 5 Designs

I am so pleased to be able to show you what I have been working on - and thank you for you patience - I must admit I have not blogged much recently.

On this first card the main image is from the McMahon Vintage, and just goes to show that the "flower power children" of the  '60's were not as original as they thought.

Introducing Wildflower

I painted her with twinkling H20's after printing her out twice - I then cut out the two flowers - her skirt and hat - painted them and layered them onto the main image which had been cut out using a Spellbinders labels 14 die and sponged.

As she is a Wildflower I used the Leafy Branches embossing folder behind her - I used the letterpress technique to colour the de-bossed area, and although it was not quite what I expected, I like the way it turned out for this card.

The paper I used at the base of the card is from the Studio 313 exclusive selection at McMahon Five Designs.

A couple of corners from the Cuttlebug Vintage corners and some rhinestones and Wildflower was ready for her debut.

My second project is again from McMahon Vintage  and is called Tea Time.

As soon as I saw this image I thought of a maid leaving the kitchen to take tea to her employer, and having read a lot of historical fiction, I know that the kitchens of old were poorly planned, dark and unpleasant, so I tried to tell this story in the card....

She was coloured using chalks, and the kitchen area smudged with Tea Stain Distress ink.  
Here is a close up of the detail in her face and the tea things on the tray.

The wall covering in the area she is walking into is a piece of figured vellum, and the 'portrait' was made using a wee oval of brown card and some white embossing.

Some white pearls trimmed the top of the vellum

The white flowers were smudged with orange ink, stacked with an orange one, and held with a flower brad.

This was mounted over some lace which had been 'glammed-up' with some more pearls.

I have really enjoyed working with these images, and I invite you to 'tour' the other design team creations and enjoy yourself - their work is outstanding.
