Going Round in Circles

Welcome my blog friends - it is good to be back here!!

The title of this post is a pun, as health-wise I still feel as though I am chasing my tail - I am on my third lot of antibiotics and am still coughing and spluttering - at least the fevers have subsided.  Thank you all for your well wishes.

The cards I am showcasing today are circular, hence the title.

The bird on this card is from the Layers of Color retired set Dotted Delights, and the sentiment is also from a retired LOC set, Happy Wishes.

These were stamped using Tsukineko inks, the card base cut using the largest Lacy Circle Spellbinders die, and the background sponged before removing the die.

There were some rhinestones added on the dots on the images and under the sentiment.

I threaded some iridescent ribbon through the edge and finished it with a bow.  It does not show well here as there was no sunshine when I took the photographs.  When the light hits it IRL, it is really colourful as it picks up the colours near it.  The back of the card is a slightly smaller circle that the outer one, and is attached with a fold at the top.

The next card is also circular

Again I have used the LOC retired Happy Wishes set for the sentiment, and the butterfly is from the retired Joyful Noise set.

This time I cut a larger circle for the back, and trimmed it around the edging and added Kindy glitz in the cut-outs. The background was sponged while the   card was still in the die.

The butterfly was stamped over some card I had sponged to get the colour I wanted, and was fussy cut.  I added rhinestones and kindyglitz for some more sparkle.

Pink Cottage Rose

A warm welcome to my visitors again.

I love this image of a Cottage Rose (a retired Layers of Color stamp) and took great delight in using it for this card.

Before I start, I would like to say that the camera has told lies - this card is actually a light purple, and the dark layer is a deep purple - you can just see the purple on the edge of the ribbon.

The image was coloured using chalks, and partially cut out - I did not use the full image as it is  much larger than I wanted to use.

The purple layer is mulberry paper with a gold thread through it - I chose to cut it, not tear it this time.

The pink rhinestones are grouped as they are as I was following a sketch, but did not get the card completed in time - again!  The sheer purple ribbon is absolutely stunning on this card, but I suspect you will have to take my word on that!

The butterflies were snaffled off/up-cycled from a card I had been given - I think they are sissix ones.  The rhinestones I added.

A quick photo of the inside - I don't often decorate the inside of my cards. Ironically the purple ink has shown true to colour here!

Honey Bees galore

Welcome to my blog - thank you for visiting me - I am humbled that you call by.

I made this using just the one (retired) Layers of Color set, Honey Bee.

The main image is designed to fit into a spellbinders labels 20 die cut.
I painted the image with Twinkling H2O's, and added Kindy Glitz for the sparkle.

The sentiment was stamped onto the same parchment like yellow card as the big image, cut using a Spellbinders classic oval and  mounted over a scalloped oval cut from mulberry paper.

The background was created using the small bee image, randomly stamping it over the kraft card stock and painting them.  This was distressed and sponged, and then I added the torn mulberry paper and ribbon before mounting the images onto it.

Rhinestones were added and the the whole mounted onto a cream card base.

Love is............

Welcome again.
This is the second release that I have illustrated this week, and  is by
McMahon Digital and is entitled All Things.

I wanted to use it for a masculine card, so this is a little less 'frilly' than some cards I have made.

As I wanted the image to take centre stage I printed it fairly large, and cut it with a Labels 10 die and sponged the edges with a dark gray ink.

The butterfly was painted with twinkling H2O's

The image was mounted on a lime green card that has a discrete sparkle in it, the edges were sponged with a green ink, and then that was mounted onto a dark green card stock.  The hand died seam binding ( a RAK from Lovely Linda) and the rhinestones were the final touches.

Once again I invite you to visit the other team members and see the wonderful releases there are this week - their names are linked on my side bar.

Thanks so much for visiting - may your day be blessed.

Hap-Bee Hap-Bee

Welcome back - It is always great to know you have visited.
This wee fellow is from McMahon Digitals

I painted the image using my newly acquired distress inks. Layered it onto some purple mulberry paper I had frayed the edges of, and then onto the pink base.

I adorned the panel with rhinestones and more stickles, and added a wee ribbon and bow to finish it all off.

Love the sparkle this brings to the card.

There have been many more images released this week, and a freebie, so wander around the other team members (links in my sidebar) to see the wonderful work and pick up the freebie.

I cased a case...

I saw a CASE study over at Bridget's Blog the other day and I was inspired.......

This card is a case (Change and Share Everything) of her card, and the inspiration for her card which is here.

I changed the sentiment style and mounted it on a small piece of card I had sponged the edges of.

The stripes are wound around another layer of card, (also sponged on the edges)and were made of embroidery cotton and a silver thread crocheted together.

There were three rhinestones added to mirror the silver thread in the stripes.

A final few with the light catching the silver.

One Layer Anniversary

Welcome - thank you for visiting.
I needed a plethora of anniversary cards recently, and this is one of them.

I went for a single layer with sponging and random word stamps from the Layers of Colour set The Love Chapter for the background.

The sentiment was stamped and embossed and cut using a Lacy Circle spellbinders die, and then a scrap of sparkly ribbon was  wound around it.

The charm was attached with the same ribbon that I used on the circle, which had by now run out, so I had to use a silver edged ribbon for the bow.

The band across the base was punched both sides and then sponged with a pearlised ink. A clear chiffon silver edged ribbon was layered over this and the wee letter buttons added, then some rhinestones.

Bird and Cage

Welcome, and thank you for visiting again.

I was sent some of the bird cage and bird die cuts in a RAK by the lovely Shelly Schmidt and challenged myself to use one the other day.

My base card was a piece I had coloured with the Ink, Spray and Smash technique some time ago.

I sponged both the bird, branch and cage with various Tsukineko inks.

The base of the card was stamped lightly to ground the image - the stamp was inked using the Rock and Roll technique.

The gloriously textured ribbon across the top of the card was bought at a Craft fair last year.  The lemon ribbon was layered over that and a bow attached over the hole of the cage.

The main card was layered over an apricot paper and then onto a deep cream card base.

Jenna and Daisy Dog

Welcome, and may you enjoy your visit today.

I have two cards to share using new releases from McMahon Five Design.com.

The first image is from a new line Sue is carrying called D'Amour Allure
Which has both red rubber, digi and clear acrylic stamps.
Let me introduce you to Daisy Dog  who is available as a digi stamp in both JPG and PND files. Isn't she so cute!!

Daisy was printed and then coloured with watercolour pencils.

She was then mounted in a frame made using Spellbinders Labels 10 that was previously embossed.

The sentiment was computer generated using the Gigi font.

The lower right corner was adorned with some paper flowers that I had coloured with ink and rhinestones.

The final detail was some silver cord on the top.

The second is being released under the Solocosmo label and is entitled Jenna.

I printed the image onto linen textured card and coloured her with chalks.

I mounted her over some paper scraps that were on my desk, the green is from the Prima Fairy Flora 6x6 stack. All the edges of the layers were sponged with the green ink used to colour her eyes.

The wee doily at the bottom was one that I had stamped and embossed some weeks ago when I was just 'puddling around' in the studio.

After mounting all the layers on a some speckled cream card, the corners were pierced and the edges sponged with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.

Lily Baby

Good Morning again, and welcome back.

This sweet new release from McMahon Five Design.com is from the Solocosmo  division.

I coloured the image with chalks before 'fussy cutting' it.

There were some details that I used sparkle pens on - the scalloped edge to the wrap and bonnet, and the butterfly.

The image was mounted with foam dots on an oval cut from a lime coloured card which has a lovely discreet sparkle in it, and sponged with Memento Pear Tart ink.

The dp is from a Prima 6x6 stack, Romantique, which I ran the edges of over the Pear Tart ink pad, and was mounted on a pink card.

The lace was some from my stash, and I threaded a narrow pink ribbon through the pattern, adding a small bow each time it came through from the back.

Thank you once again for visiting.  May your day be blessed.

Oh No!!

Welcome
This is my second post today - please scroll down for the other post.

This release from the McMahon Five Design team is released under the
Studio 313 label and is named Funny Little Things.

There are three images and six sentiments in the set, which makes it very versatile.

The image was coloured with chalks and the edges sponged with Tea Stain distress inks.  The sentiment was printed separately, the edges sponged, and mounted over the base of the image.

The flowers are pre-cut from glittered card - they were a gift some time ago, and I do not know where they come from. The stalks were stamped and the 'wrapping' cut from a piece of wrapping paper! (Waste not, want not!).

The dp is from the Kaiser Le Chateau 6x6 pad, and run through the herringbone embossing folder, the edges were also sponged.

After the dp and images were mounted, I gathered a length of stitched dark brown ribbon to form a flower, mounted this in the corner, using a glue dot, and added a gold rhinestone.

do pop over to the other design team members and see what they have created.
