I made this card as a thank you to a friend who served a supper accompanied with beautiful paper napkins/serviettes... I slipped one into my handbag, and surprised her with this card some days later

The napkin was split so I had only the printed layer, and then glued it to a white card, folding the edges over as I went and also gluing them back, which gives a very neat edge

I then glued another smaller section to some scrap white card snippets, and when dry, trimmed out the images, mounted them on foam over the originals, and added a layer of Glossy Accents to them

The thanks was cut from a snippet of card that matched the base, I covered it with a strip of clear packing tape before die cutting it, so it looks embossed and so shiny. 

The inside was finished with this wonderful scripture stamp from Stampendous, it is one of my original, wood mounted stamps.

The card was very well received :)

Pussycat Congratulations

We recently had the joy of seeing an older couple of 'singles' from our church family announce their engagement, and I made this card for them.

The cats are a very old image, possibly 20 years, as it was one of my original stamps.  I cannot read the label now to know who made it. They were embossed in gold on a piece of paper that had been sprayed with Altenew Frayed Leaf Mica spray, and mounted onto some pale green card with gold mirror card under two opposing corners.

The sentiment was also gold embossed, but directly onto the green card base, again a very old stamp but still available from Montarga Stamps

The heart was painted with Cosmic Shimmer Lustre Polish Raspberry Sorbet

The green card was a snippet in my card 'bits' file, and I had already die cut it   The same sprayed card was layered under the apertures - here you can just see a bit of the shimmer from the spray.

I also lightly sprayed the green card with TH Mica spray, Flickering Candle, and after assembling the layers, using gold under the corners of the green before the maroon base, I added the sequins with a tiny gold metallic bead. 

I strip of sparkly Scotch tape finished the inside.

The card was very well received by the couple.

Card for a Centenarian

Warning - this is photo heavy post, so I will try to keep the words short...

I was asked to make this card, and I had very little knowledge of the recipient, other than she loved embroidery while she could still stitch, her church, family and an island local to where she lives.  

The customer wanted a larger than usual card

My card is 29 cm x 20 cm (approx 11.4 " x 8"), just under our A4 size made in a a bookbinding style.

The next (metallic paper) layer was A5, and the design paper just under that again 

The layers were adhered together and then punched and the ribbon added

The die cut numerals and church window were white card covered with gold Perfect pearls.  

Both elements were layered up for effect.

The snippet the greeting was embossed on was a mop-up piece, using ink of the same colour as the greeting was stamped in.  The letters were coloured with a gold ball pen. This was layered over some of the metallic paper and also on card to add dimension.

The flower, leaves and borders were all snippets of white, cut using the Spellbinders large die kit from May 2021 and coloured with Cosmic Shimmer Opal Polish, (flower border) Cosmic Shimmer Lustre Polish (flower and butterflies) and mica paint, (the leaves) stitched with stranded cotton, and stranded rayon.

Here you can see the shimmer and shine of the Lustre polish.  

The final detailing were the tiny metallic gold 'dots' .

As the base card was textured on both sides, I added a trimmed down layer of smooth card for writing on, and trimmed it with a strip of the metallic paper. 

All edges were touched with the same ink I used on the front panel - Catherine Pooler Queen For A Day

Monochrome Butterfly Sympathy

I recently watched a video by Natasha Foote on masking and this card is one of the results.

The butterfly stamp I used was from Layers of Color, a now defunct firm but, I still love their beautiful images, of which I have a large selection.

The ink I used throughout is Memento Grape.

I stamped and embossed the first image, masked it then stamped upwards, masking each successive image to create the stack, but not embossing any of the subsequent stamping.  I used the same technique to stamp the bottom part of the stack.

The sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs, now Divinity designs, is another old stamp.

I did not emboss it, but did repeat stamp it to get a deep ink coverage

As I had some smudges on the original panel, I trimmed down one edge following the pattern of the wings.

I adhered that to a pale mauve card base that I had sponged ink around the edges of.  I then placed some lace next to it, and covered the join with the dark purple card strip

The inside was finished with a corner stamped with the butterfly off the edge

Up, Up and Away

A special welcome to Vine Artist of Just Branching Out.  Do pop over and see her beautiful work.

This card started with the background made some years ago, 

- stamping with string around an acrylic block - if I remember rightly, I used paint for the medium to stamp with .

The image is one of my original wooden block stamps - some 20 years old! and it is still available here

I stamped and gold embossed it, cut the oval,  then masked the image before stencilling the clouds, using a homemade stencil to do so. 

The sentiment, equally old and now not available was also gold embossed, and this time cut into an elongated oval .

Both panels were edged with blue ink and mounted on foam dots for dimension.  I coiled some blue plastic string behind the sentiment for added interest

The image was stamped once again on the inside of the card in London Fog ink

Internet issues resolved with a new 'box' and I am back.

This card was made for a young girl who loves pink and purple and princesses...

The image was stamped in Memento London Fog, and coloured with Polychromo pencils, unfortunately the colour has not picked up well on the camera.

I used Wink of Stella on her white blouse, but could not pick up the sparkle.

I also cut out a simple crown and added to her head, and layered the image panel over an offset 

 gold panel.

The sentiment, an\ old S/B die, was cut in purple sparkle paper, and layered up on white card.

I also framed the whole card with a gold doodled edge over the purple base.

Some sparkly washi tape finished the inside.

A Sparkly Farewell

Just at the moment we are having major internet problems ,and are having to hotspot to our phones for data, so I will not be around blogland until the problem is fixed - this is compounded by the fact that the family and I are in isolation thanks to Covid!!

This is my final post as a DT member for Word Art Wednesday, as I have decided to stand down.

It has been a privilege to work with Karen and the team for the past five years. 

The new Word Art Wednesday challenge starts today, and our sponsor is Altenew, who are giving a generous gift of a $15 voucher to their store.

This was started with a piece of offcut paper that I stencilled in purple, and further trimmed into various shapes to make the background

The wonderful scripture verse, which is available free on the Word Art Wednesday blog, was die cut and had colour brushed on the edges before removing the die.

The flower was stamped three times and trimmed into the various layers, and the same colour painted onto the petals , then it was covered in Wink of Stella. The layers had foam tape between them, and a heart shaped brad formed the centre.

The stencil was a NBUS one I bought at a craft show years ago... again I wiped the edges of the pieces along the inkpad to 'frame' them

The final two pieces were attached to the inside of the card to finish it.
