Hats Essential!!

Welcome - it is sooo hot here at the moment, one dare not go outside without a hat!!

I enjoyed 'playing' with this set by Layers of Color stamp set Beautiful Lace, designed by Nina B.

Love this wide border and when stamped in dye inks the detail is amazing!!

This hat is also part of the set - I painted it with twinkling H2O's and fussy cut it and mounted it on foam dots.

The background doily was cut from pale blue card and the edges sponged before adhering just the centre of the doily to the base, which meant the edges lifted a wee bit giving, the impression of more dimension.

The sentiment was embossed on vellum, cut and embossed with a labels 10 die  and mounted over an identically shaped piece of blue card.

The final detail was the rhinestones and silver cord.

Christmas Card 2011

Thank you for visiting, and may I take this opportunity to wish you Christmas greetings. 

Just a short post today to display my Christmas card for this year, as I know folk I posted to have now received them. 

I kept them very CAS this year and was pleased with the result.

The images are from Layers of Color, from two of their new Christmas sets

Christmas Verses and Glad Tidings.

The dove was stamped and gold embossed, the holly painted with twinkling H2O's and some Kindy glitz added. 

I cut a spellbinders classic oval die out of some scrap card, stamped the image on another scrap, then cut it out and adhered it inside the edges of the cut oval, this was used as a stencil so I could sponge the edges of the oval.  After sponging I ran a blue glitter pen around the inside edge of the die.

The sentiments were both stamped in red.

My apologies to the overseas recipients that they did not get the glitter on their cards - that inspiration did not strike until later .

Birthday for a Young Man

Welcome - as promised, another card.

 I will let the pictures speak for themselves and keep the words to a minimum.

I started out with a totally different idea, but it just did not work, so I changed tack, and this is the result.

The main image was stamped in a deep red on kraft card stock.

The scripture was gold embossed and sponged before I mounted it on foam dots.

The sentiment was also gold embossed and the edges sponged, before being mounted over raffia ribbon on foam dots.

The contrast between the red on green really made this card come to life.

A Girl And Her Pearls

Welcome - I am so pleased to have you visit. 

I have had lots of fun in the studio these past few days - with lots of productive time, and hopefully, lots of blogging, depending on visitors and 

grand children :-).

I had great fun with this dress form image, and I also played with my

 Opalite interference inks.

I used the same technique on the sentiment panel.

The dress form was mounted on some dp from the Fairy Flora stack that I had embossed using the retro circles folder.

The final touch were the pearls!!  No self respecting girl would go out without her pearls.

Lace and Layers

A warm welcome to you all - thank you for visiting.  

I had time to 'play' with my new Layers of Color stamps the other day and this is the result.

I started by creating the background using the 'ink, spray, smash' technique. The instructions are on the Layers of Color blog.  

I then stamped over this using the border stamp from the Lovely Lace set of stamps, and gold embossed it.

The dress form was stamped on a scrap of paper from the Fairy Flora pad. This was mounted on some novelty 'ribbon' I had on hand.

The scripture stamp in the set was stamped and gold embossed.

The doily from the set was stamped in versamark ink to give a watermark effect.

The card was assembled with a gold ribbon ribbon and some rhinestones to finish.

I Will Sing

Welcome - it is lovely to have you visit again.

This is a new release from McMahon Five Design.com and is called 

I will sing

I printed the image and verse directly onto the design paper - from the Prima, Fairy Flora 6x6 stack. 

 The image comes with the Treble Cleft either open or solid black - a lovely variation.  The open one was printed and coloured with  gold pigment ink. 

The corners are provo-craft vintage corners, and were cut from some card stock that matched the blue in the paper, and I added the 'bliss'  half pearls from Kaisercraft

The butterflies were punched from a subtle gold paper with a Carl Craft punch, and the 'bodies' of gold dimensional paint added.

Welcome to my craft area - this is a one-off post written in response to a friend 'daring' me to share my work area, which she does on a weekly basis!

This is my desk, with equipment stored at either end and underneath.

This is the main work station with what I use most, closest to hand.

To the left

and to the right...........

Shelving behind me

and stuff on the floor 'coming to get me' as my DH says!

I do have a wonderfully light area and I love working in this space.
