My apologies for not visiting this past week, but life took over, with not only lots of helping of family, but also a funeral and a migraine, just to spice things up!
This card was made for a rather special young lady's birthday, and I just hope it was enjoyed as much as I enjoyed making it!
I love this 'roaring twenties' image - made by a local firm and now retired.
I started out by looking for paper that I could use to paper piece her, and ended up using it for the background of the card too.
The wee snippets of pink were the perfect match for her accessories, and I shaded her underskirt and feathers with pencils
The sentiment from another Kiwi company, Montarga Stamps, was heat embossed with a platinum powder.
Both panels were mounted over some angled scraps of an ancient (18 yrs or more old) paper - this was from one of my first ever purchases of patterned paper!
I then noticed, horror of horrors, that I had some black ink smudges where they were not supposed to be, so I rummaged around and found I had the perfect colour of sequins that I could use as embellishments...
I stamped the woman's image again on the left of the inside of the card
My apologies that the images are a bit 'faded' but these were taken at the height of summer when the light is very bright.

Maxine your card is gorgeous - love the image and how you used designer paper on/for her dress. So creative to use the sequins as a cover up for smudges of ink. You did well!
A charming image. I do admire paper piecing. It is very fiddly for me these days, but the end result is worth it. All your colours tie in together so well as usual Maxine. very pretty. Kate x

What a lovely card Maxine. It actually reminds me of Jane Austen, who lived not far from where we are. Her house, where she lived for many years, is fascinating. The room she sat in to write had a creaking door behind her, which alerted her to anyone entering, so she could hide what she was writing. To this day they never oil those hinges, just as Jane forbade. I love this card loads.

Sorry to be such a delayed visitor, not really sure where my time has gone the last few days, great card anyhow. Hope the migraine has subsided, totally identify although on a positive note had a couple of day's without last week.

Hate hearing that you had a funeral and a migraine Maxine. Neither is very pleasant to say the least. No worries about not visiting. I'm behind with my visiting as well, so trying to play catch. This image is fabulous and it made for a wonderful card. I love how you paper pieced your lady's coat/dress. I also love that the paper is the same on the card base. The rest of her is colored so pretty too. Way to use up wee snippets too! Don't you hate it when you find black ink smudges?! You hid them perfectly with your sequins and we would have never be the wiser if you had not told us. Hugs, Brenda

Well color me surprised because I saw your card first and then read the post and had no idea the sequins were not intentional! I love them, actually! What a fun image and the roaring 20's is perfect for a birthday love the pop of hot pink (unless my laptop is seeing the color wrong!) - I hope you feel better. As a migraine sufferer, I feel your pain! xx
I can see why you like that image and I love how you have paper pieced her and then married the image to the panel on the card. Perfect! An so beautiful too. Great idea to match the pink in her underskirt with the wee snippets.
