A Flower for a Friend

Welcome

I really enjoyed making the card for a special friend..

I started with a panel over which I had applied glue and let it dry, then I sponged on distress inks,
(I think I used Spun Sugar, Tattered Rose and Milled Lavender). The glue acted as a resist and gave a wonderful subtle texture to the inked panel.

When I went to stamp the Crafty Individuals stamp  'Flower'  over it in espresso ink, I was very pleased to have a MISTI, as the ink did not really want to stamp over the background, so I had to make multiple impressions. The sentiment stamp was on a wood block, so I removed the wood mount and also used that in the MISTI...

To embellish the feature panel I added punch waste and lace down the left side, and the punch waste and flower in the bottom right.

The panel was them mounted on the cream base, laying two deep purple snippets under opposing corners.

The liner had a snippet of the feature panel added to the bottom of it.

You do have some good ideas for making different backgrounds. This is very effective but I can imagine it needed just the right ink pad to stamp on it. The rudbekia is a lovely stamp. I grew them in my garden in UK. I like the finishing touches. Altogether a lovely card which I am sure your friend enjoyed receiving. Kate x

I must try your idea of putting glue on the page to begin with - it sounds as if the texture will be lovely.
Ahm the Misti - I would not be without mine. Whilst expensive at first it is worth its weight in gold to me with images that have previously caused so many problems especially. That cone flower is adorable, and the addition of the embellishment down the side just finishes the card off perfectly.
