This is a photo heavy post showing a couple of canvas work projects I have recently completed.
The first was a wee sample that was in a box of bits donated to our local Embroiderer's Guild that I volunteered to finish and make into something
It started as just the blue stitching, so I added the yellow
The edged it with some Palestrina Knot stitch,
Lined it and added some wool fabric for the needles, and a button and loop completed the project, a wee needle book. Approx size 4x4 cm.
The second project was a teaching module from the ANZEG, our national body.
It was supposed to be a larger piece, stitched into a square pincushion, but yours truly decided on a biscornu shape, so my stitching was done on two smaller squares of canvas, and joined, corner point to side centre, to give a 3-D octagonal shape.
I started with some bright yellow canvas, which to a point dictated my autumnal colour scheme.
Most threads were solid colour, but here you can see some of the variegated colours
There was a variety of threads used, and below you can see some metallics under the stranded cotton.
The centre button was one from my stash - which includes buttons from my mother, grandmother and mother in law...

Awsome love it but for myself I stick to cards lol I’m not good with needles and yarn etc but I do enjoy seeing beautiful projects like yours

Wow! I used to stitching.. (NOthing this complicated!) I can't imagine the time that went into these amazing projects!
I have a small needlebook that I bought years ago at a craft sale. I love it.

Stunning Maxine, impressive needlework especially the variety in the last piece. I still have and use my needlebook made and embroidered simply at 8yrs old. My first piece with my pinwheel in 3rd class.

Wow! Really great stitching! Two wonderful projects! You used those fantastic colours and your stiching is so careful. It must be fun to search for the needles. Wonderful centre button in your second project.
