Other Hobbies

Welcome
thank you for visiting my blog.

On a post recently, I commented about spending time on my other hobbies, and a request was made by by a reader that they would love to know what my other hobbies are.

Well there is knitting, nothing flash there, just peggy squares for blankets to be given to the disadvantaged.  This is one I finished in January this year, I knitted it together in one piece.
I have made individual squares for the next,  and have done enough for a half blanket.

There is embroidery, in which I specialise in PHD's - Projects Half Done ... these were all finally completed this year after languishing embroidered, but not finished, for longer than I care to admit...

I crochet, but not as much now as I did, as some arthritis in my wrists swears when I do too much.

And then there is Bobbin Lace making.  I started about fifteen years ago, but dropped it when my husband was ill, and then everything was packed for the sale of the house, during the three years in the rental, and finally unpacked recently, so I am starting from scratch again, with some very basic designs of bookworms.

This next photo shows the bookworm still on the pattern, known as a pricking, with some bobbins.

So that is some of what is keeping me occupied and not blogging as much.

Great to see this! Love all three hobbies and did a lot of knitting and embroidery myself while my parents had a wool- and handcraft shop and worked in it, so had to answer a lot of questions the customers had and show them what was meant in a pattern and more...
Think somehow I knew this and that's more why we connect so easy... Hugs, Gerrina

My you are a bust bee Maxine, I'll confess that I can't knit, eyes not up to embroidery anymore so a bit of crochet is about it other cardmaking.

Sounds like we're agreed on Quince.

I didn't know know about your other hobbies. They look like fun. I tried knitting but I decided one hook as opposed to two needles is much easier for me. Your Peggy squares ate pretty. I saw a lady on YouTube doing bobbin lace and oh boy did it look complicated! Have a blessed day!

It is wonderful to see these Maxine. They are all fabulous and well done for finally getting those half finished projects completed. Finishing is not my strong point either xx

What a great collection of hobbies you have, Maxine! I love your knitted blanket and your embroidery wall hangings. I do not know knitting but I love embroidery too. And you know bobbin lace? Oh, this is difficult. My mother is very good at bobbin lace, but not me. Big hugs, my friend, and continue creating. You are really talented.

Very interesting Maxine I've done them all but bobbin lace, but haven't embroidered for years, or knitting, crotchet more recently. It once was my main craft then card making took over. I hope to blog tomorrow, God willing.
Love and prayers, Shaz in Oz.x 🙏🏻🤗

Maxine, I love all of these creations! Your first picture of the blanket is wonderful! I love that you'll be donating that. It's so cool how different all the colors are. At first I though it was a quilt. I love your embroidery too. My favorite there is the ABC long piece. So pretty, especially on that heart hanger. And the bobbin lace is really nice! I have heard of that but never seen it in person or done it. Everything is so lovely. Thanks so much for sharing all these project with us! :)

That is quite a range of talent. Your projects are all beautiful. It is understandable that you wanted to return to these projects. It is difficult to bounce around to different skill sets. I must say, Impressive! Bobbin lace, crocheting and knitting are some I never learned. It would be nice to see your projects continue to be shown on your posts.

Love, Hugs and Blessings

Oh Maxine! You are very talented and super creative! Really thankful that you shared your masterpieces with us! Embroidery is one of my difficult arts so as crocheting although I haven't tried the latter yet but it looks difficult to me! Hope you are doing well! Sending hugs and blessings from Spain! Stevenson
