Birthday in Black, White and Red

Welcome

I saw a black, and white card on Instagram some time ago, and thought I would CASE it. Unfortunately I cannot give credit to the original creator... and the result included some red!

I textured the background with a SB Lovely Lattice embossing folder

Die cut the doily, and decided it was too large to fit in the centre, (as it was on the original card) so moved it up and to one side and trimmed it to fit.  The sentiment (a magazine freebie) was embossed with Ranger detail white ep,

The three flowers were die cut (with a discontinued SB set) from red glitter card, and  adhered to the doily with gold brads

I added two strands of bakers twine, (black and red) tied in a bow, and also used the three centres from the flowers as an additional accent.

On the inside I simply added a piece of washi tape down one side.

Tis is lovely Maxine - personally I love trimmed doilies - such a great look and so many ways to use them! A lovely sentiment and those glitter flowers are a lovely touch. Another great card my friend! xo

I've always loved black, white with touches of red together-whether it be in clothing, decorating or card making-it is just a stunning color combo. So I'm totally in love with this beautiful card Maxine! Love the embossing, such a beautiful doily and cute flowers. Love that you used glitter paper for them. The twine just pulls it all together with the flower centers. Love that! Hugs, Brenda

A very stylish card Maxine. I tend to shy away from using black, but you have plenty of red and white to balance it, and it looks great. Kate x

The black doily against the white embossed background and that pop of red flowers against the black...beautifully done. And the final touches of twine and the three negatives from the flower...creatively used. Thanks for joining us at Double Trouble and The Crafter's Café. And please come back for future fun challenges.

Using a hole punch I often punch out different color glitter paper, and then put liquid glass on top to give it dimension and jewel effect, and the glitter shows through, not that you need it here, information only on something I learned and thought you might be interested in or may already do.
