Sympathy with Lilies

Welcome

I would like to start my post by welcoming my newest follower, Susan Hogan - Susan if you have a blog, please let me know so I can visit you, and return the compliment.

I don't often make sympathy cards "in advance" as I prefer to tailor them to the recipients, but I did make three the other week as I needed one, and just kept going.

I started with the light blue cardstock for a base, and added the dark grey and black floral paper from a Rosie's pad called Forever - and then decided that it was too dark, and stalled

I stamped the sentiment (a magazine freebie) using Broken China D I, and cut it with a S/B Floral Oval die, sponging some more ink onto it both before and after I removed the die.

Inspiration struck about that time, and I added a layer of blue vellum over the paper and was happy with the much softer background.!!

The card was finished with some blue ribbon from my stash, and a Prima Hibiscus flower and three white lilies, again from my stash.

The inside of the card was finished with some pale blue sparkle tape

HI Maxine, a stunning card, love the way you softened the darker print with the vellum, if you hadn't told me it was there I probably wouldn't have noticed it at all. Have a wonderful week... Megan

Beautiful card Maxine. Love the blue edging around the sentiment die cut. I have that die and often forget how useful it is.

This is gorgeous! I love all the dimension you added with the floral focal point. The ribbon is so pretty and the sentiment framing is gorgeous. This is sure to encourage the recipient. I find it's easier to make them ahead of time as the sadness tends to overwhelm me but I rarely have one made ahead. Good going getting 3 created!

This is a beautiful sympathy card Maxine, I'm sorry you needed on but wonderful that you just kept on going making another one. The pattern paper is just beautiful with the vellum over it. I love your sentiment die and that polka dot ribbon. It all comes together and makes a serene sympathy card. Hugs, Brenda

Beautiful card Maxine. Always great to have a few in your stash. Sometimes they are one of the hardest cards to make, so having a few on hand is a good idea. xx

Such a lovely card and the perfect colour for a sympathy card. What lovely script the stamp came in - a great freebie. I love the Prima flower and the lilies are perfect for this card. What I really like about your cards that make them stand out from the rest is that you include something on the inside that is just the perfect touch.
have a good week
Bless you
