I seem to be blogging a lot of cards with a steampunk look/theme, and this was probably one of the ones that I have enjoyed making the most.
Be warned, this is a photo heavy post, but I will refrain from a long dialogue.
The concept for this card came earlier in the year when I purchased a 3/4 Designs card kit of papers and ephemera called Gizmo Escapades . The papers are fabulous quality, and I have since purchased other packs for future use...
I trimmed a sheet of printed paper, distressed the edges, then sponged Versamark ink through a diecut piece of acetate, acting as a 'stencil', then clear embossed it. The next step was to sponge the sheet with Vintage Photo DI - it turned out exactly how I had envisaged it.
I had spent some time cutting out all the printed sheets of elements in the kit, so all I had to do was to select the ones I wanted to use - I then added glossy accents to parts of them, and left them to dry.
The ribbon was some my grand daughter brought home from a birthday party, and it toned perfectly with the card, and I managed to get a tiny and tidy bow made - it doesn't happen every time ;)
The bow was glue dotted onto the largest element, and then I stamped the sentiment, die cut it and distressed it to match the card, then attached it to the bow with some string
I couldn't resist this bee - they are not my favourites, but this one...
The inside was finished with another home made stencil, and I used not only the same DI, but a couple of times I touched the brush onto some blue ink to reflect the colours in the ephemera.
I have heard the the recipient loved it!

The embossed spots are so effective Maxine and loving the whole vintage feel.
Maxine, the embossing and many details work together to make this a gorgeous birthday card. I love the vintage mixed media look of it.

So beautifully combined! And so many techniques; can understand that you had fun making this one! Hugs, Gerrina
Steampunk fascinates me. It frees up the mind to put unlikely elements together in a way that gels to form a piece of art. you did a wonderful job of artistic creation with this card.

Wow Maxine, this card is amazing! It definitely has that steampunk look to it and I'm glad you are enjoying making steampunk cards, you are good at them! I love the shiny embossed paper and all the layers you added just a bit of embossing on. The bee is pretty cool looking with the clock as part of his body and I love that your granddaughter had ribbon that matched your color scheme. A great place to hang the sentiment. I love this card! Hugs, Brenda
No surprise to hear the recipient loo9ved this card. It is a beauty. I so enjoyed seeing close ups of the various parts of the card and yes, the bow is perfect. I could never get one to look so good.
As for your bee, I am a lover of bees and this one is so fabulous. I take it it comes with the clock face on it and you used Glossy Accents on it - how lovely is that. it is also one of the most realistic bees I have seen, those wings!
A fantastic card both inside and out.
Blessings, Neet xx
