Sunflower Prayers

Welcome

I made this card as a show of my support for Ukraine

The sunflower image is a freebie from Power Poppy , and coloured with my Polychromo pencils

The thread is some very old glittery gold, shared by my friend.

I tied it with a simple knot.

The sentiment is part of a freebie set by La La Land Crafts , called Sunflower Frenchie 

I decorated the inside with two narrow strips of Washi in gold and blue, but inadvertently deleted the photo - not my day.

This card is for the challenge starting today at Word Art Wednesday , which is being sponsored by 

D.R.S Designs, who are providing the winner with a $20 voucher to their store.

I started the card by tearing around the scripture (which is available free on the Word Art Wednesday Blog) and brushing on some Memento Golden Glow ink.

which was layered over some paper from the Dark Inks collection by Recollections. 

 I gold embossed the edges of the paper  The paper itself has some gold on it, which unfortunately shows as black in the photos.

I then embossed the edges of the Cranberry cardstock base with gold and added some gold cogs over the edges of the feature panel at either end.

The inside of the card was finished with a narrow strip of gold Washi tape.

Bee-jewelled

I was inspired to make this card from a magazine I bought recently

 - all the freebie stamps and stencils had a bee theme to them.

I will admit to starting with a different plan in mind, but this is what eventuated!

I loved this sentiment, so decided to go with a non-occasion card...

I cut the  hexagon die from a snippet, and stamped the honey comb with Scattered Straw DI, and the lightly brushed with  mustard Seed DI,  and layered it over some more snippets of card to give some subtle dimension. The edges were accentuated with the same inks. 

 The bee was stamped on another snippet with black ink, and the stripes coloured with a marker.  I over-stamped the wings with Electric Black, but the gold in the ink didn't show up much...

So I added Crystal Kindy Glitz to get some shimmer and sheen.  After I had assembled the card I added the three Amber Rhinestones for bling

The inside was finished with some gold patterned Washi tape.

You're Gold err, Old

I have an older brother, and sometimes I get 'stuck' for an idea for his birthday card. 

When I saw this one, by Marilyn at One Stamping Fool,  inspiration struck!!

I adapted the card to the recipient (a retired mechanic).He  has received it and thoroughly appreciated it!

I am still with my friend, so I used her supplies.  As she does not blog, she does not add the names of brands to her supplies as she stores them, so the only thing I know is that the ink I used is 

Stamp it Jamestown Blue, which I used for both the stencilled background, and the card base.

I die cut the old truck twice - once from a shiny bronze paper, and once from some card I had coloured with copper brushos, spread with my finger once wet. These I adhered slightly off set, and then placed onto the washi tape 'road'.

I die cut the letters from the bronze paper, and then coloured some white card with black ink, then a layer of Memento Lightening Black, which gives a gold overtone ... it is just visible in the photo.

I used some washi tape for the sentiment inside.

Be-Jewelled Flowers

I am currently blogging cards I made earlier in the year as I am still not at home - but that's fine, I can still make cards, I am just not sure of the quality of my photos of them, as I have taken them on my phone - I will have to get brave and upload them to the computer and find out 😉

This card  started with a panel that I had made last year using brushos and lots of water, then taking prints off the original - I think this was a second 'print' and was a very soft colour, which I then sprayed with a Lindy's mica spray - sorry, I can't recall the name of it. 

The spray did blotch in places, but it looked ok so I continued... 

I found some die cuts that my friend CarolG gave me about four years ago.. I lined them up to curve down the left of the card, and added some clear rhinestones to the flower centres

The sentiment was white embossed on the same dark green card that I placed behind the focal panel, and I added a tiny strip of the water colour panel there too

Then I really went to town and added more rhinestones over the card front - I don't think I have ever used so many on a card - but it worked!! 😀

The inside also had a wider strip of the background  paper added to finish it.

This card is CASE of one by the very talented  A. Rose of Sundaystamper Papercrafts   There were lots of changes, but if you pop over to her blog here,  you will see the inspiration...

Instead of patterned paper directly on the base, when I found this gorgeous, textured but very soft paper in my stash, I wrapped it around another layer of card. 

I then came across this negative die cut of sparkle card, (it was a snippet in the packet of dies) and made that my centre piece, mounting it on foam to add dimension.

I then embossed the rest of the greeting in white on a snippet of cranberry card, and placed it below,

 not across ,the 'smile'  die cut.

I found the feather on my studio floor, complements of my cat I suspect, so tucked it under the main panel to soften and balance the card.

The inside was very simply decorated with some washi tape:

CAS and Scripture

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Word Art Wednesday, and our wonderful sponsor is

I started this card with some pale green cardstock, and part of a sheet from a calendar page.  The calendar is  published  by a local (New Zealand) craft firm, and each month's page can be torn off, and used for papercrafts.  It's fabulous quality paper, and I love using them.

I printed the scripture panel, designed by Karen M and available free on the Word Art Wednesday Challenge page, die cut it, and brushed on ink before removing the die. 

This was mounted, partially offset, over a tan panel that I had layered some gold ribbon around.

I finished the inside with a snippet of the design paper used on the outside.
