A Retro Fashionista, and Alcohol (Inks)

Welcome

Another A.I. on shaving foam background, and another ARTplorations ATC Colourable/Ephemera card from a set called Retro Fashionsita. 

The die cut was made using a die of my friend, cut from a snippet of white card I had inked with DI Mowed Lawn ink. 

 I added very pale green to her pinafore, and lemon to her collar, and coloured her hair to be a fashionable auburn. (Unfortunately the green in her pinafore shows yellow in the photo.)

The sentiment was computer generated, printed and then mounted over a final snippet of the green card.

A few clear rhinestones were added to various parts of the card.

The inside was decorated with a snippet of the background card, and the rest of the sentiment added.

Recycle and Steampunk

A change of genre today , this was made for a young man who is fascinated by steampunk.

It was a difficult card to photograph as the background paper is actually a sheet of  paper from my spray box, with layer upon layer of mica spray.... so lots of glimmer and shine... and some wording from whatever is was originally showing through. 

I was able to emboss, using Platinum E.P. the vertical Happy Birthday 

The edges of the paper and the base card were also embossed with the same embossing powder

I used the cut outs from a 3/4 Designs paper pack called Gizmo Escapades

And a few die cut, dull gold cogs from an old Marianne die set

I finished the inside with a strip of the background paper

Gossiping the Good News

Today's post is for the final March Challenge at Word Art Wednesday, and we are being sponsored by Crafty Individuals, a British firm that makes the most delightful red rubber stamps.  

I have used the ducks from the Favourite Ducks  set. 

I die cut the printed verse (available free at Word Art Wednesday) with a circle die and lightly sponged the edge with green ink, then mounted it onto a green scalloped circle. It was mounted on the base with foam tape to give some dimension. 

I stamped the ducks in grey ink, and coloured just their beaks and feet, then fussy cut them and adhered them to one side of the verse

The front of the card was finished with some scored lines across the top, and a trimming of deep gold paper across the bottom - to both sets of lines, and on the verse panel,  I added some small gold rhinestones

I used a matching gold strip across the bottom of the inside of the card - here you can see that it is gold.

Marbled Background Birthday

I have had two "play days" recently - the first one was using alcohol inks on shaving foam, and the background on this card is one of those

The focal point image was a freebie that Shery from STAMPlorations sent in an order - it is from the Colorables and Ephemera collection

The sentiment is a Magazine Freebie, stamped with Versamark ink and Chestnut die ink, and clear embossed, hand cut and mounted over a snippet of the paper I had used in the die cut behind the ephemera

This die cut behind the focal point was unmarked (still using my friends gear) , but made an point of interest without 'killing' the ephemera.

A few rhinestones completed the from panel.

The inside was decorated using the trimming from the background panel.

Something Different

As my friend is starting to feel much better, we have had a couple of hours making backgrounds this past week.  

The first one was using alcohol ink on shaving creme, and taking prints from that - there were three of us 'playing' that morning, and every print was different, but they all had a distinctly 'marbled' look to them.

The next idea was to use Brusho's on shaving creme!! That gave a totally different result!!

As the Brusho's did not immediately spread, we used four spritzes of water to start to activate them

These next three backgrounds were from the same start, showing the progression of colours and also some swishing of the brusho's/shaving creme mix

We found we had to rub the back of the card well into the mix to get a better transfer of colour

On these next two I think I started with more water sprayed over the mix

If you don't press well, or if you have swished the mix and not smoothed it over, you get some white patches, which add to the interest.

We used the cheapest shaving creme available at the supermarket, and plain white, medium weight card for our play time.

Then we spread the final coloured creme onto the scrap paper we had been using for some paper backgrounds.... 

This is me, having great fun finger painting with the mixed up remnants of the coloured creme!

After which I had to clean up!

Woodgrain Background

This month's Challenge in my small swap group was to create a woodgrain background - something I have not previously done.

I am still with my friend, so I will say now that I have no idea of the brand of some of the supplies I used..

I started by scoring my background, then smearing PVA glue over it with my finger.

Once dry, I dragged Jamestown Blue, Weathered Wood and Chestnut inks down it

I die cut the floral spray and greeting from dark brown and then peach coloured card and offset them

I added the snippets of turquoise card in opposite corners of the main panel, then angled it over the peach layer, which was in turn angled over the dark brown base .

The final touch were the turquoise gems added to the centre of the flowers (see the main photo)

The inside was finished with a couple more snippets.

A Mermaid on her Rock

This card was made for a great grand daughter who loves pink and mermaids.  As I only have one mermaid stamp, that I used last year, I looked up clip art online and Mr G provided me with this beautiful pink toned image!

I used some paper from Recollections Rainbow Inks collection for the background.

I seated her on a 'rock' created from a kraft card die cut circle, and stamped with a Lavinia 'rocks' stamp, after liberally coating her tail with Wink of Stella.

The sentiment was gold embossed on the water, which was created by a die cut circle cut in half with some fancy scissors, and then overlapped across the base of the card.

The inside of the card was finished with a strip of the patterned paper over some washi tape.
