A Granddaughter's Delight

I am still in lock down, but for all that I still don't have enough time, and somehow the last ten days have flown - the gardens are looking good though, and ready for winter.  

I have also got both embroidery and knitting projects underway.. 

Oh, and a major operation in the bathroom thanks to a leak from under the shower that has only just shown up... 

I made this card for my granddaughter who has just turned ten, and she loved it.  

I started with this off cut from a piece of watercolour paper that had I used Brushos and cling wrap on, and then sprayed with Lindy's Blue Hawaiian Blue.  I also added some butterflies punched from glitter card in pink, blue and red. 

  

As I knew this would be hand delivered, I made this large flower from a S.B die, sponged the paper with ink while still in the die, and then sprayed with another Lindy's spray, but it doesn't really show up, before forming the flower.  If you look closely you can spot that I added two wee glittery butterfly die cuts and a rhinestone in the middle. 

This butterfly was in my jar of pre-cut butterflies, it is a M.B die now discontinued, and I have no idea what I used to get the sheen on it!  I tied a bow of shiny thread and glued it on, but it looked a bit messy, so hid that with the rhinestones, which also gave it extra security. 

The tails of the bow, which curled as they had come off the spool,  I tucked under the edges of the blue panel and secured them there. I also added a wee dot of glue under them where they touched the panel, just to keep them in place. 

This sentiment stamp is one of my first, and this time I simply stamped and embossed it in a 'rich red' powder - the wee jar is unbranded and has been around almost as long as the stamp!

To add to the glamour I put a string of rhinestones across the bottom of the greeting.  

The inside was very simply finished with a strip of sparkle tape.

A Tulip and a Circle

Its been a glorious, sunny day here, and I have walked, chatted at a distance to folk,  and gardened. Autumn does have some wonderful days, and I am sure most of us here in my corner of New Zealand will be feeling a little less 'blah' about the lock down and isolation... 

This card was made for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge starting today, and is sponsored by Stamp Simply, who are providing either two stamp sets, or a stamp and a die set, of the 

winner's choice. 

I chose to work with the "Get Well Tulip" set,  for which there is an accompanying die set available.

For some reason the scripture begged to be cut using a circle die... which I did, embossed it, and then sponged the inside with Broken China D.I. before removing the die. 

For the base I started with a piece of 15 cm x 15 cm card and folded it in half, and then stenciled the  background  using a STAMPlorations Leaf Print stencil, with Lucky Clover D.O. then sprinkled it with water. After it reacted, I mopped with a paper towel and dried it. 

The tulip was coloured with Polychromo pencils and fussy cut..

I mounted the scripture panel over the folded card, and the adhered the tulip to one side of it.

To finish the outside and decorate the inside, I used a strip of some 'silk' tape that I have had for an embarrassingly long time - it was one of my very early purchases, and adhered it to the bottom of the front, and folded half of it to the inside.   As it is a small card, I wanted maximum space for a note.

Sweet Blossoms and Splats

I was tempted when Korin from Sweet'n'Sassy put up the In This Together set of digital stamps, and succumbed and bought them - it helped that there was no postage :)



I was inspired to colour it because of the current 30 day Coloring Challenge

This is the first image I have coloured, and I used my Polychromo pencils, then fussy cutting it. 

The background was made using some mica based water colour paints by Semco on light weight card, then after drying, it spent the night in the middle of a heavy book!.  

The sentiment was stamped in dark blue ink onto a snippet of the water colour paper.

Both panels were backed with dark blue card, and the main panel was mounted over a couple of layers of ribbon, and then the sentiment was added.

The inside was finished with a strip of washi.

Cling Wrap Inspired

This card was the result of a challenge in a small (N.Z.) swap group I belong to.  The challenge was to use cling wrap in your background

I started with some Watercolour paper and sprinkled Brushos over it - blue, aquamarine and violet I think, and also pearl SprinkleITs. spritzed it well, placed the plastic film over it, then twisted it from the centre to add texture, then left it to dry.

When it was dry, I trimmed out the piece I wanted to use and adhered the die cut. 

( a M/B poppy die that appears to have been discontinued.)

I then tapped embossing ink over the panel, added clear embossing powder and heated - I repeated this four or five times.

The embossing appears to have re-actived the Brushos, and colour moved onto the die cut in places, but it also intensified the colours and textures. 

 

I mounted the panel onto some pale blue textured cardstock , and stamped the sentiment (a magazine freebie,) below the image panel, and rubbed the edges of the panel onto the same ink to define them.

The card looked a little stark, so I embossed a line of dots on either side of the main panel, which gave some interest without detracting from the focal point.

In the photo above you can just see some of the sparkle the pearl sprinkleITs gave to the brusho panel 

The inside was decorated with some matching blue washi tape.

A Birthday Tulip

I am doing a happy dance as I have finally managed to get my watermark into my new photo editing progamme, and subsequently onto my card photos - whoopee!!

I love how this card turned out - it's the first time I really, seriously, tried no line colouring, stamping the image in London Fog ink, and colouring with my polychromos. 

It is also the first time I have used this gorgeous stamp by Stamp Simply 

The sentiment was simply stamped using an old ink called Sugar Loaf Green, but it has always been this delightful blue.  I also ran all my edges over the pad, which gives a very discrete frame.

The embossing I used on the white panel is an old S/B Em-boss folder

The head of the tulip had numerous layers of colour, yet  I was  not really happy with it until I picked up a Prismcolor pencil and did a final layer!

The leaves  I was really happy with - especially once I added some black and very dark green to the base of the leaves.

Unfortunately  the camera has washed out the colours a bit.

The strip of paper that I mounted the tulip over is a snippet that was sitting on my desk, from a Craftwise pack called Oceania. 

I stamped the tulip again on the left of the inside of the card in the same ink I used on the outside of the card.

And added a final snippet of the paper to the bottom right.

White Flowers

Today's card was made for a friend who is turning 89 this shortly, and is unfortunately suffering from Macular Degeneration, which limits her sight, hence the high contrast of  the white die cut over the bright background.

The background was made with brushos, using some gold SprinkleIT  for some sparkle

The sentiment was simply stamped with Peeled Paint DI, hand cut into a banner and mounted, offset, over a snippet of  gold sparkle card

As the die cut was smaller than our standard card size, I added a wee gold ribbon and bow to the base of the card, and also a few gold sequins for some wee accents

The inside I finished with some twill ribbon, which covered the ends of the gold ribbon. A scripture stamped in the same green ink,  from the Grace so Amazing set by Sweet 'n' Sassy stamps was stamped on a white snippet and then trimmed and added to the top panel of the tent opening card.

The bottom panel was white, and I left it plain so I could write with a thick nibbed Sharpie on it.

A Different Type of Colouring!

Not sure if this is 'offically' colouring, but it does colour my world...

I finished this on Saturday.. sans one button, which has escaped my knitting bag, and I will not be able to add it until after we are out of lock down.

A close up of the pattern - this is a Danish one I purchased online, called Bella.  by Lene Holme Sansoe.  The first time I have knitted from the yolk down. 

And here is little Missy Moo, ensconced in her seat on the back of her mother's bike, wearing it. They did a 'ride by' to show me.  I deliberately knitted it longer than the measurements so hopefully she will get two winters out of it.
