Butterfly Thanks

Welcome

I would like to start this post with a warm welcome to Sally Bownes of Sallys Bitz2 - do pop over and look at all the gorgeous work she showcases, and leave her some love.

I was recently commissioned to make some thank you cards.
I thought about the design for a while, knowing the circumstances of the need, and suggested  incorporating a butterfly.
The suggestion was accepted, with the proviso that it look similar to a Monarch butterfly.

Here they are as a swarm, or kaleidoscope of butterflies, on my bench.

This is the finished card

I started by colouring a sheet of watercolour paper with Yellow, Orange, and Gamboge Brusho powders and spritzed them lightly with water and let them react.  When that was dry I cut the bottom layer of the butterflies using an M/B  Effera die - (Appears to be discontinued, but the Asti Die is similar).

I next cut a corresponding number of the M/B Pippi Die from black cardstock.
My Cuttlebug was working overtime!

I then sponged through a Paper Roses Small Mesh die cut with Broken China DI and one of the darker blues from a kaleidoscope pad.
I used my new blending brushes, they are wonderful to work with, and did not 'soak' the cardboard stencil I had made with the die cut.

I then layered the butterfly die cuts over that,

stamped the sentiment at the base of the card, being very thankful for my Misti ,

and it was finished.  I used a big sentiment to balance the card.
It was one word in a set of large word stamps, intended to be used as a guide to writing...

A pretty thank you card and one my Dad would've loved. He adored the monarchs and used to bring them to the pc monitor for me to see! They released some on the day of his funeral, but sadly, I wasn't there to see it...
I bet the recipient was thrilled with these!
