Welcome.

This card started with the background made some years ago,
- stamping with string around an acrylic block - if I remember rightly, I used paint for the medium to stamp with .
The image is one of my original wooden block stamps - some 20 years old! and it is still available here
I stamped and gold embossed it, cut the oval, then masked the image before stencilling the clouds, using a homemade stencil to do so. The sentiment, equally old and now not available was also gold embossed, and this time cut into an elongated oval .
Both panels were edged with blue ink and mounted on foam dots for dimension. I coiled some blue plastic string behind the sentiment for added interest
The image was stamped once again on the inside of the card in London Fog ink

What a fun birthday card, Maxine. It's sure to be a hit with the recipient.
Maxine: Wonderful birthday card with textural looks and details!
Love how different your backgrounds look; they give the card its real 'pop'! Hugs, Gerrina
Fun background technique, Maxine. Great masculine birthday design!
Very well done. Always loved the bi-planes and wanted to ride in one. Not many left anymore. Great card.
Hugs and Blessings,
Jim
Isn't it interesting when you can pull something out of your stash and use with an image you wanted to use with this background. I remember this technique and used it myself with rubber bands but years ago and it's nice to see this technique come up again. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Double Trouble. Take a look at the awesome sketch from AHSC and hope you can come back and show us what else you may be able to bring out of your stash for this sketch.
What a great background Maxine. Great stamp for a masculine card or plane lover. I wasn't aware that their stamps were still available - thought they had closed a few years back. Thank you for entering the Anything Goes Challenge at Jan's Digi Stamps
Sometimes old products work perfectly for something that comes much later - good example! Love the background. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble :)
A great masculine card, many thanks for sharing with us at Stamping Sensations challenge.

Maxine, the Lord definitely uses you as an encourager. I am so glad to get to get to know you as we share a common love of cardmaking! Your card is so fun and invites the imagination to soar. Years ago when my sister was dating her husband, he flew his small to our town and took us up in it. We were able to see our house and so many landmarks...it was so exciting and fun. While he didn't do any loopty loops, your thread behind the sentiment is definitely a nod to the trailing smoke at the air shows and the clouds add so much to the overall message. I love your take on red white and blue as well!
Creative Red, White and Blue card, Maxine. Lovely embossing. Thank you for sharing your masculine creation with us at Jan's Digi Blog Challenge. Looking forward to see you again. Good Luck and Happy Crafting!

I never think to do this technique with either string or rubber bands but love how it looks so much! Love your card Maxine, your background looks very cool. Love the plane embossed in gold and love how you put the clouds around it, really makes one feel as if they are up in the clouds in this plane! Hugs, Brenda
What a wonderful design hun. LOVE the plane and your fabulous textured card front. Fabulous. Hugs, Wends xoxo
