Welcome
Sorry I have not been around much, but I have discovered that the reason I have not been keen on blogging, or visiting blogs, is because my eyes have deteriorated and I need new prescriptions for my glasses - all three pairs. My everyday, my reading and my dark/driving lenses all need to be adjusted, and to top it all off, cataracts are starting to affect my sight also.
This was a card for the local swap group I am in, and the challenge was to use momigami, (this is a video link, and the technique starts at approx 8 minute mark) or paper kneading on the card....
I chose a handmade paper which had these gorgeous gold 'flowers' on it - and they survived the technique
As I wanted the paper to be the focal point, I simply stamped a gerbera (Uniko) in ladybug ink, watercoloured it with the same ink, and diecut it before adding the micro beads in the centre.
The sentiment was die cut from a piece of card I had also painted with the ladybug ink, then it was adhered to a yellow panel
The panel and flower were adhered using my hot glue gun, as well as the paper to the base, as the result of the paper treatment left it somewhat glue resistant.
All the edges were coloured using the red ink.. even the insert panel, which I decorated with washi tape.
As I don't often make square cards, I had to make an envelope for it - I used double sided paper, and used a white sticker for the address panel.
I am linking this to:
(the stamp and die were NBUS, the technique new to me)

Can sympathise Maxine and eyes are so precious, a pretty floral card with the vintage background.

Maxine, this is so pretty and creative!
What a great paper technique and it turned out beautifully, I can see why you wanted to keep it as the focal point.
I'm sorry about your vision problems. I think it's partly a problem of mine too when it comes to crafting and driving. My vision isn't what it used to be but I still don't regularily wear my reading glasses to craft (although I have 2 pairs!!) and I don't like driving because my "driving" and prescription sunglasses both need updated a bit. I wanted to make an appointment for January but it's about over and I still didn't bother to make an appointment.
I'm so happy to see you at my Garden Party with this beautiful card. Thank you!
Sorry to hear about your eyesight. New lenses all round is a great expense too, but always worth it to see well. Unfortunately it seems that the dreaded cataracts come to us all eventually. I hope you start to feel more comfortable with screens soon. Love the card. That paper is gorgeous and I have that gerbera stamp which hasn't been used in a while so thanks for the reminder xx
Such a special technique! Sorry to hear about your eyes; hope you can replace your glasses soon! Hope the cataracts will get not more, but I have the example of my father whi on his almost 90th year just need simple reading glasses... Hugs, Gerrina
I love the textured look of your beautiful card Maxine. Good on you making the envelope too. As for your eyes, I hope you are able to have them seen too soon, they are so important to look after. A friend of mine is putting off her need for new specs, due to the price of the lenses, the frames were a giveaway, but the lens were silly prices. Take care. x
Turned out just perfect Maxine. It was a fun technique to try. Sorry to hear about your eyes... I have to get mine checked every two years, so can get a bit expensive. Luckily the two previous visits didn't require change in lenses, but last years did! Hopefully no changes next year.
Can comment now Maxine, praying for your eyes, God'sblessing, an interesting technique. Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
Maxine, it really sounds like you’re going through a lot with your eyes. I have some of the same problems, mostly cataracts in one eye. This makes my vision a little wonky, but I’m still able to navigate, especially up close. Far away is another story! It’s difficult getting old for sure.
Your card here is really amazing. I watched the technique on YouTube, and I also subscribed to the channel. She looks very interesting. I have never heard of using hand cream in a paper technique, but I love the look. I’m definitely going to give this a try. It seems a little strange that it actually dries well enough that you can use it on a card, but I guess it will work. I love the big flower that you used on your card too and how you coordinated the letters with it.
I’m glad you’re well enough to play along with us at Word Art Wednesday. I also really appreciate all the times you pop over to my blog and leave such kind comments. You are so appreciated in the crafting community!
Lovely - and so creative!
Blessings xx
Such a pretty card. I can relate to the eyesight. I have issues especially in the evening when the lights gets dimmer.
