Scary Dragon!!

Welcome again - this is the last card in a roll - I should be doing some DT work, but I can't get into my studio for various reasons, so I finished this one off at the dining room table, having started it yesterday!

I needed a card for a six year old - I know he loves dinosaurs, but the only dinosaur image I have, I used on his card last year, but he is a lovely young man and will think the dragon is pretty good too.

I coloured up this image from Dustin Pike's Doodle Dragon Studio using glitter pens and crayons -  then mounted him on two ovals, which as you can see both have some glimmer and shine to them.

The punched 'picket fence' border is one that I was sent in a RAK from  Lovely Linda, I threaded some plastic strands through it for extra fun.

I decided that I wanted a dimensional card, so I made an adapted easel card.

The sentiment is from Kiwistamping - I gold embossed it then coloured the letters with the same glitter pens that I used on the main image, cut it with a Nestie classic oval lg, and sponged it with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. Placed some lengths of the plastic thread under it, and added the buttons and the card was finished.

Silver hearts

Greetings again - I am back again as I managed an afternoon in the studio - and I must say I really enjoyed it, so I hope you enjoy this post.

We were very excited to hear yesterday that a young lady from our church has become engaged - the proposal was all very romantic with the gentleman going down on one knee to ask her hand in marriage!!

I had something slightly different to this in mind when I started out, but I am pleased with this result.  The black, red and silver is quite dramatic, and are colours that my friend wears a lot.

I had decided from the outset to make an easel card for the Cuttlebug "Be Inspired" challenge.   I  wanted to use this stamp from the Layers of Colors Joyful Noise set, and ended up using it this way, embossing it in silver on the black, rather than how I first thought.  The random hearts and the greeting are from stamp sets from The Warehouse (think Michaels in the States).

The black layer of card was then mounted on a layer of thin silver metallic shim, and then onto a red base card.

The base of the easel is in white card, and I used a punched boarder as the 'stopper', and added silver rhinestones for a bit of bling.

Three silver embossed crosses from the Layers of Color 'Gothic Crosses' set were added  to remind them to keep Christ as the pre-eminent partner of their relationship.

This section was finished off with a red ribbon and bow.

To add a wee bit of bling to the front of the card I put silver rhinestones on the ends of the curls of the flourish, and on the dot of the 'i'
This card was a real pleasure to make, and I do hope you have enjoyed the 'story' of it's construction.

I am entering this in these challenges

Thank you

Good afternoon to my visitors - it is good to be home and blogging again, and to see you here.

I offered some time ago to make a thank you card for an organisation that I am involved in, and this is the result.

I started with the green panel which I made some time ago during a 'doodle session', using the Cuttlebug Merci folder and Brilliance Thyme ink.

I knew that I wanted to mount it on the red, and added the braid and brads before mounting onto the white base.

This was my first easel card, and as I have repeatedly heard, they are easy to make!!

I finished the card with three silver brads on the base, and some punched red card on which I had stamped and silver embossed the word thanks.

This was a very simple card to make, yet very effective.  I am only sorry that the light was not very strong when I took the photo as it has dulled the colours somewhat.

Thanks for calling by - I really do appreciate you visiting, and leaving comments.
