I saw this gorgeous picture on The Graphics Fairy's website before Christmas and printed it off, and have recently made it into a card.

I kept the card fairly simple so the image could speak, stamping and embossing the sentiment in the bottom part of the panel.

Below the panel I pleated some ribbon after threading it through a card buckle, cut from a die recently received in a RAK from Grace over at 

Th-INKing of You

Other details included are the gold embossed the edges of the dark card layer, and faux stitching around the image panel.

The final detail was this button, the top of which I coloured with a pen.

Encouragement in Orange

Welcome

I think the fact that it is summer here influenced my colour choice on this card, that and the dp, from an Amy tangerine pack.

The set is from Sweet n' Sassy, and I love this sentiment, which was stamped on orange paper to match the card base and pick up the colour from the dp.

The image is from the same set, and the panel was sponged with a coordinating ink before being mounted over a doily.

The final touch was the ribbon with a wee bow slid onto it.

I love the vibrancy of this card.

Bugaboo Baby

Welcome. 

Thank you for visiting.

This is one of the most digitalised cards I have ever made.

I started with and image from Bugaboo Stamps - one of their Friday Freebies! The sentiment was also computer generated - by me. 

We have a very special wee girl about to join our extended family shortly, so I thought I had better be prepared.

After sizing and printing the image, I coloured it with watercolours. 

After colouring and trimming the card to size, I punched the corners, sponged the edges and added the ribbon.

I love how this has turned out - I just hope the parents will too.

Faux Cloisonné Butterfly

Welcome - thank you for visiting my blog again.

I recently saw a post on the The Born Doodlers  blog  using a faux cloisonné type technique.  I have basically cased his card.

I started with a magazine illustration that I liked because of the colours and went from there, being careful how I placed the stamp to get some reasonably life-like marking - that was my right brain talking!!

The butterfly stamp I used is a (retired) Layers of Color stamp.  This was also stamped and embossed on the black base, along with the sentiment. After the coloured layers were adhered, a glue and gold glitter trail was added.  

This was mounted over gold paper, and then another layer of the magazine illustration.

A bow was added before the whole was mounted onto the bright orange base.

A Change of Craft

Welcome

I slight change of craft today - I have returned to the sewing machine and created a frock for my grand daughter.

Although the pattern looks simple, it can be a bit tricky to sew - I made it twice for my daughter years ago, and I had forgotten just how tricky!!

The front and back look very much alike, so I added some trim to the front

Here is a close-up of it - it is a very simple needle lace pattern

This is a photo of Button modelling it - she had just returned from pre-school, and did not want to take off her tights!

Needless to say little brother wanted to get in on the action too!

Loving my Grandma cuddles - be back next week!

Simply Valentines

Welcome - it's good to see you here again.

I needed a Valentines card for an order, and I was inspired by the challenge over at Simply Less Is More challenge.

The images were stamped with Rocket Red ink.  They are from a very cheap set that I bought years ago from the local Warehouse (NZ equivalent to K Mart and the like)

After stamping the sentiment was enhanced by debossing a heart die around it.

I couldn't resist adding this cheeky stamp in the corner as the card is for a woman to give her husband.

Yellow and Gray and a Flower

Welcome.

I made this with at least two challenges in mind, and I enjoyed the process.

I came across a couple of images I had coloured using the chalkboard technique when I was doing a tidy up recently, so one of them formed the starting point, and focal image, for this card.

I cut the image using a plain oval die, and then faux stitched in silver around it before removing the die.

I used some pale lemon coloured card for the scalloped layer, which really complemented the colours in the image.

I experimented with black Staz on ink and stamped the greeting on the ribbon, and it worked first time!!

The lower layer of paper was embossed, and the lace layered under the image.  A few black pearls finished the card.
