No App . Oval Needed

Welcome

This months challenge in my small New Zealand swap group was a technique called  Faux Torn Mosaic
It was messy, but fun, and I loved my results.

I chose a purple paper that had a diagonal checked pattern on it, tore it up into random pieces, smudged the pieces with Wilted Violet DOX and the edges with Villainous Poison DI, and adhered them to the background layer, trimming the sides and then inking them with the darker ink again

The image and sentiment  I used are from an Art By Marlene set, coloured with my Polychromos pencils. (unfortunately the colours look somewhat washed out in the photo)
The sentiment was filled in with a gold pen

I then die cut the image and sentiment using some deckle style oval dies.  The sentiment cut was too large, so I did some partial die cutting to reduce the size.
The edges of the ovals and the base white layer, were brushed with Memento Dandelion yellow ink.

I finished the card with some small metallic adhesive embellishments, some purple flat back pearls for buttons, and a piece of sheer gold ribbon under the sentiment panel.

The inside was finished with a narrow strip of the patterned paper in it's original form.

Unfortunately I managed to delete my photos as I downloaded them from the camera, so these two were kindly taken by the card's recipient - who loved it.

I've never seen this technique before Maxine but how effective and great way of using up all those scraps of DP.

Ah what delight to come to blogger after a long gap and be met with your creation. This card is really cute and I like the facial expressions of the lady. The sentiment matches perfectly. Hope you are well.
Lots of love,
Monica

I am not surprised the recipient loved this card. It is a delightful image but I cannot make myk mind up about its origin. Is it a cupcake girl or a flower with a girl for its centre. Either way it is a cute image and so typical of Art my Marlene.
Love the way you have done the background - I will have to follow the link for it.
Blessings, Neet xx
