Illusionary Doodles

Welcome,
and thank you for taking the time to call in.
It's been wet and cold here this past week, but I have not been able to do very much cardmaking, thanks to an ongoing sinus infection - I have spent hours knitting though...

This was made at the beginning of the month for my small New Zealand swap group, where the challenge was to use this Optical Illusion technique.
I must confess that I had seen this video, and decided this was not for me, but I had to eat humble pie and make it for the challenge.

I started out making the doodled panel, but I did a full sized card front, and then halved it when I had finished it.  I added a red layer before adding it to my card front.

I stamped the wee sentiment in black, and layered the hand cut tag over the same red card, despite how it looks, before mounting it with some red ribbon threaded through the top.

I finished the inside of the card with a trimming of the doodled panel.  Both that, and the layer of white card I ran over a red ink pad to give them some definition.
I was pleased with the results, despite my initial reservations :)

Love this gorgeous card.. just read your comment and No I wouldn't let Bella have more pups, it was a breeders agreement to just to have one litter.. it has taken us a week with full on love and attention to get her settled, she has now forgotten her pups... I would never have agreed if I knew the trauma a dog goes through x

Hope you are feeling better soon Maxine - some lovely warm sunshine would certainly help! It has been cold and dreary here most days as well. Enjoy your knitting :)

Maxine, the technique may not have been to your liking but you did a fabulous job with it anyway. Lovely card!

You should be pleased, it looks amazing, love the pop of red too. So sorry to hear you have been unwell. Bad weather just makes everything seem worse too. Hope it all clears up soon xx

I thought I had commented on this card, seems I did not! What a clever Gal you are, love the doodling, and you have the other half for another card? Beautiful work Maxine.

Wow Maxine, this is a cool looking card! I thought that was a stamped background until I read that it wasn't. Of course I had to go and watch the video and I can see why this wasn't for you...not sure it would be for me either, although I do love it. You did a great job with your "doodles". And it made a very cool and unique card. Hugs, Brenda

Another technique for me to research, I had not heard of the Optical illusion Technique but I love this card. I do think the red lifts the whole image and definitely adds to the beauty of the whole card.
Lovely.

Fabulous job with card!
You are reminding of another technique that I have not tried in a long time.
I love the look of zentangle!
